The Emergency First Response (EFR) First Aid at Work (HSE Great Britain) course is a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved first aid course for the purpose of meeting the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This programme meets the statutory needs of employers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland needing at least one quaified First Aider on the premises.

The Emergency First Response First Aid at Work (Great Britain) course is customised to UK Resuscitation Council basic life support protocols and nationally accepted first aid protocols and is based upon the instructor led delivery of the Emergency First Response Primary Care and Secondary Care modules instructor digital lesson guides. Modules on Caring for Specific Illnesses and Injuries, and First Aid in the Workplace compliment these. The course has its own materials including participant and instructor manuals, and benefits from the use of the existing Emergency First Response Primary Care and Secondary Care video.

Emergency First Response First Aid at Work (Great Britain) courses can only be conducted at authorised Emergency First Response Workplace First Aid Facilities.

The Emergency First Response First Aid at Work program is comprised of the Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid) modules. They teach people how to provide emergency care for someone in need, with an emphasis on the workplace.

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) suggests the following:

From your risk assessment, what degree of hazard is associated with your work activities?	How many employees do you have?	What first-aid personnel do you need?
Low Hazard eg office, shops, libraries	Under 50	At least one EFAW
	25-50	At least one first-aider trained in EFAW
	50+	At least one first-aider trained in FAW for every 100 employed (or part thereof)
Higher hazard eg light engineering and assembly work, food processing, warehousing, extensive work with dangerous machinery or sharp instruments, construction, chemical manufacture	Less than 5	At least one EFAW
	5-50	At least one first-aider trained in EFAW or FAW depending on the type of injuries that might occur.
	More than 50	At least one first-aider trained in EFAW or FAW depending on the type of injuries that might occur.

You must provide first aid arrangements at all times including shift or after-hours work and train more than one first aider or appointed person to cover absence.

    EFR Courses are HSE and Scout Association recognised.
